Off to Neverland

William's Nursery Neverland: a place where little boys don't have to ever grow up.

I knew years and years ago that if I ever had a baby boy I wanted a Peter Pan nursery. In the summer of 2012 we started working on William's very own Neverland.

Step1: After my hubby painted the walls a beautiful light blue, my mom (after watching numerous youtube tutorials) painted big, puffy clouds sporadically throughout the room. I stress that these were sporadic and not clumped together all over the room. She did an amazing job although it's hard to tell just how spectacular they are in pictures.

Step 2: My dear friend, Lauren, is an amazing artist and she volunteered to paint a Peter Pan Mural for me...oh my joy!

This took a total of 20+ hours. There must be dozens of shades in Wendy's hair alone.
Step 3: Bedding. But first a history lesson. My first "real" job was when I was 15 years old and I worked in a JoAnn Fabrics. While I was there, a beautiful blue and gold fabric came in. I told my mom if I ever had a boy, I wanted that in his nursery. Well, when we found out we were having a son I went to JoAnns, nearly 10 years later, and there was one roll left...in the clearance section. Just enough for William's nursery.
Once again, my super crafty momma (she should be the one with a blog) came to the rescue and made the quilt, bedskirt, bumper pads, sheet, curtains and pillow for me! And reupholstered a glider to match!!!

Step 4: Finishing Touches

I googled a template for Peter Pan's hat and used felt and jewelry hemp. My fingers were a bit weary by the end.

All it takes is faith and trust...and pixie dust.

Found this perfect map of Neverland on etsy from etsy.com/shop/imaginactory .
Captain Hook and the crocodile! I was beyond happy to find both of these.
The clock tower was a gift from my aunt and uncle - It is a vintage tin piggy bank. On the far left is a hand crafted photo album created by my dear friend Karen (visit her etsy shop www.etsy.com/shop/PhotoGarnish for more albums).

The Jolly Roger I found on ebay. It just needed a polish.
This very special teddy bear was a gift from my husband when we were dating. I loved incorporating it into William's room.
My favorite quote from the book.

Then put it all together for the finished product.

I still have a few things I would like to add to the room...Peter's shadow for one. All in good time.

“You know that place between sleep and awake, that place where you still remember dreaming? That’s where I’ll always love you, Peter Pan. That’s where I’ll be waiting.”

First Post!

My first post on my first blog! How exciting! This is a pretty momentous occasion and I really want this first (hopefully of many) post to set the tone for my future blogging. So, I decided to post about the biggest blessing I've ever received. He arrived nearly one year ago as a 10lb, 22 1/4 inch bundle and I love him more than life itself.

He is my miracle. And the comparison below is proof of how great that miracle is.

I could post a thousand pictures of the last year, but I'll finish with a recent one...for now:)

Thanks for stopping by!
